Cancer treatment support

At the Acupuncture Emporium and Natural Therapy Centre, we offer supportive and empathetic care for our patients. When it comes to providing support to our patients through their chosen oncology treatment, we apply an evidence based and integrative approach that is sensitive to each patient’s needs.

There is evidence (based on findings from multiple reviews) to show that acupuncture may offer relief to patients with chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in conjunction with anti-emetic medication. Additionally, there is some evidence of potential positive effect to show acupuncture may reduce fatigue associated with cancer; a systematic review showed that Chinese herbal medicine used alone or with chemotherapy or supportive care gave significant relief for cancer related fatigue. A systematic review showed that “acupuncture may also assist with the recovery after colorectal cancer resection” including reducing time to first flatus and defecation.

Something to think about

The greatest mistake in the treatment of diseases is that there are physicians for the body and physicians for the soul, although the two cannot be separated.  ~Plato
